Meet Evan
Founder & Principal, Autry Public Affairs
Evan Autry is a seasoned lobbyist and strategist with deep experience in Texas politics. Named the #1 “Rising Lobby Star” by Capitol Inside in 2023, he has a proven track record of delivering results for clients in state government and the private sector.
Before founding Autry Public Affairs, Autry served as political director to the Texas Speaker of the House, managing a $6 million budget supporting legislative campaigns. Under his leadership, it was the one of most successful Speaker-led election cycle in Texas history.
Autry spent nearly a decade as Director of Legislative Affairs for Texas’ rural electric cooperatives, shaping policy on utilities, energy, and telecommunications. He played a key role in passing legislation that enabled co-ops to deploy high-speed broadband to rural communities.
His career began in the Texas House, where he worked on political campaigns and served as Legislative Director and Assistant Clerk for the Energy Resources Committee. He helped pass laws improving infrastructure, public education, cancer research funding, and benefits for retired teachers.

With experience both inside the Capitol and on the political battlefield, Autry brings a comprehensive understanding of the policymaking process. He holds a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Texas Tech University. He lives in Austin with his wife and two children.
